Our camp is 100% female powered. We welcome all guests at our camp. We will host our first guest on December 1, 2024.
Our camp provides a supportive environment for sisters to share experiences, knowledge, and empower each other to excel in senior positions in the tourism industry. We rely on each other to increase our representation from less than 1% to at least 2% of the total male guide population in 5 years. From housekeeping to guiding, that will be a dream come true for us. Out of 6000 guides, less than 20 are women, and fewer than 10 of them are driving long distances from Arusha to Serengeti and back. Our camp is 100% owned by local women. By practicing responsible tourism, I collaborate with reputable women groups that advocate for female guides and prioritise supporting local women. This approach ensures that significant profits remain within my country.
Our camp is eco-friendly. By purchasing chemical-free body and bath items in Zanzibar, we’ve brought the essence of the spice island into our house, providing you with the opportunity to experience Africa. Our water goes through a water filter that is plastic-free and meets international standards. We have handcrafted throw blankets and mats, skillfully woven by women in Ifakara, central Tanzania, using locally sourced materials and 100% cotton. The furniture we have, like the bedside table, is handmade by locals who, due to age or other reasons, can’t stand for long periods. These pieces not only remind me of my grandparents, but also showcase the ingenuity and history of Africa. They rely on a single tool to make it work, but in a few years, there might not be people capable of doing that as younger generations become increasingly dependent on tools and the modern world.
Our spacious tents are perfect for solo travellers. In my role as a guide, I frequently assist in resolving issues that arise when solo guests join a group without any prior familiarity. We want to share, but also need our own space to be comfortable. Some guests snore, but some are light sleepers. To minimise any issues, it’s advisable for these guests to sleep further apart. I want to make sure our guests can sleep peacefully. I decorated my walls with animal-themed artwork because our guests love and admire the art. Each room in our camp will feature paintings created by local artists. Beautiful jugs and glasses are made by recycling broken glass and our water bottles, melting them down, and molding them.
Our customers are valued and respected, which is why smoking inside the tents is not permitted. Instead, we provide a charming veranda with a recycled motorcycle tank where cigarette butts can be safely discarded, ensuring the safety of our camp and the national park from potential wildfires. In our 10 tents, we can accommodate double beds, twin beds, and triples for families. Family tents will be expanded in June 2025. Also, we will have a stargazing tent available for our guests to spoil themselves on special occasions or as a personal treat.
Enjoy the tranquillity of your own space while our team pampers you with massages, nail services, and other spa treatments in a beautiful setting on top of a hill with a stunning view.
